Why Juventus can compete for the Serie A crown this season

29/09/2025

Within a year, Juventus has gone from being one of the struggling clubs in Serie A to one of the teams that could win several trophies in Italy.

The Bianconeri remain the most successful club in Italian football and have won several more trophies than their main rivals.

Between 2011 and 2020, they were unstoppable in Serie A as they won nine consecutive league crowns.

Juve was so successful that it became bored with its own success and began to take risks that it did not need to take.

The Bianconeri fired the successful Max Allegri, who had won five consecutive league crowns and reached the final of the Champions League twice in three seasons in 2019.

The club believed that fans who always buy Juventus tickets deserved better and brought in a manager they believed played better football, Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri had won the Europa League at Chelsea in 2019, so Juve brought him to Turin just a few months later.

He would win their last league crown to date, but the team never remained the same and has not won another league crown since then.

Their European appearances have also been terrible, and there have been at least three attempts to rebuild the team with a new manager at the helm since 2021.

This includes bringing back Allegri, who stayed from 2021 to 2024 and only won one Italian Cup, in his final season at the helm.

Since the summer of 2024, Juve has had two managers, but things have been looking better since Igor Tudor became their manager in March 2025.

As a former player of the club, he understands what it means to compete for the Bianconeri and has been able to transmit this to his players, and they are buying into the Juve mindset.

Igor Tudor has brought back the Juventus mentality

Juve’s motto is ‘until the end’; this is what the club is about, and it is a spirit of never giving up in any game until the final whistle has been blown.

In their most successful seasons, Juve has not always had it easy, but their never-say-die attitude brought them success.

This season, we are witnessing a similar character from the current group, and this was missing under Thiago Motta.

The team would often give up in games under him, which contributed to the losses to Atalanta and Fiorentina, ultimately leading to his sacking.

Under Tudor, Juve has more character, and in recent matches, they have forgotten when they are beaten.

Their 4-3 win against Inter Milan in the league and 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, with two goals scored in added time, shows this Juve team is serious about finding success this term.

They have a good blend of young and experienced players

In the past, especially under Max Allegri, Juventus relied heavily on experienced players, as the manager is known to prefer experienced players over youngsters.

Most people who buy Serie A tickets want their team to win trophies, and experienced players make it easier to find success.

However, youngsters often make the difference in matches, especially in matches where pace is needed, because they are often stronger and faster.

The most successful teams, then, are those who have the right blend of experienced and young players.

Juve has them at the moment, and this makes them one of the clubs that can win trophies this season.

With Kenan Yildiz, Vasilije Adžić, Francisco Conceição and Khephren Thuram, they have a good group of young players who can be trusted to deliver in every game.

On the experienced side, Juve has Dusan Vlahovic, Teun Koopmeiners, Gleison Bremer, Federico Gatti, among other superstars.

The team does not have so many players who have won many trophies, but with Tudor as coach and the group he is working with, their potential has no limits.

Juventus’ summer signings have terrific potential

Although they resisted the temptation to make serious changes to their squad in the last transfer window, Juventus made some impressive additions to their squad.

Their main focus was on their attack when the Bianconeri added former Lille goal machine Jonathan David to their squad.

Edon Zhegrova would soon join him from the same club, and Lois Openda joined them on loan.

The Bianconeri recognised that they already have a strong team and have invested in their attack, a position that lacked some good profile.

However, what is more impressive is the huge potential that these new signings have, and it will be the main reason this season will be successful for them.

There are so many things that Tudor needs to do to achieve success at Juventus, and one of them is to get the best out of the players he has in his group.

If he achieves that, it will be super easy for him to make his team as successful as he would love them to be.

The Serie A is as unpredictable as ever

Over the past few seasons, Serie A has established a reputation as one of the world's premier competitions to follow.

However, it has also become one of the most competitive tournaments on the globe, and that makes it unpredictable.

Since Inter Milan broke Juventus’ winning streak in 2021, no team has won the league for two consecutive seasons.

Juve won the crown for nine consecutive terms, but nowadays, no team can defend the league crown.

This means there is a better chance of another club winning the title this term than Napoli retaining their league crown.

Antonio Conte’s team still has arguably the best players in the league in their squad, but the manager knows it will take something special for him to repeat winning the league in back-to-back seasons as he did at Juventus.

With that in mind, Juve can get into the race and emerge as champions next summer if their team hits top form.

They have some of the strongest players in the league in every spot on the team and this hands them an advantage in every game they will play this season.

Conclusion

Juve will always be in the mix to win the Serie A crown in every campaign, and this season is no different.

With Tudor at the helm, they have a manager who played for the club and knows what it means to wear their black and white shirt, so he will make the players understand how important it is to win every game they play for the club.
