How many more trophies can Harry Kane win at Bayern Munich?

06/05/2025

Harry Kane has finally ended his wait for a major trophy in his career after winning the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

At 31, the striker who has scored the most goals in Tottenham history and is the leading scorer for the England national team has finally won a team honour.

In every season he played at Tottenham, Kane stood out, and the Englishman is the player even rival fans feel sorry for when Spurs end a season without a trophy.

Since he broke onto the scene at White Hart Lane, Kane has remained one of the best players in the world and has consistently scored goals for club and country.

His best scoring season as a professional was when he scored 44 goals for Bayern Munich in all competitions last term.

However, from the 2014/2015 season, the least amount of goals Kane scored in a single season is 24 goals.

The 31-year-old is a goal machine, yet he was so unlucky for so long and simply could not win team trophies.

At Spurs, he reached the final of the Carabao Cup twice, losing each time and also lost the final of the Champions League.

As time went on, he was tipped to spend his entire career at Tottenham, which meant the best striker of his generation among English players risked never winning a major honour.

However, it all changed when those who want fans to buy more Bayern Munich tickets paid €100m plus €10m bonuses to snap him up from Tottenham.

It was a stunning move that gave him the chance to break what looks like a career curse that may have been attached to Spurs and not him.

Near misses

For a player of Kane’s quality, it was baffling that he could not get his hands on a team trophy, even though he played with some of the best players available on the market.

The striker had some fine teammates at Tottenham, and he also worked under a very good manager at the start of his career.

In the 2014/2015 season, he scored 31 goals for Tottenham as a breakout star, and it seemed he would lead Tottenham to a first trophy since 2008.

They faced Chelsea in a tough game and the Blues won, thanks to goals from John Terry and Diego Costa.

It was the first heartbreak for Kane and he would have been determined to change the club’s fortune in the next campaign.

Spurs could have won the Premier League during the next term as they were the main club that competed with Leicester City for the crown.

However, the Foxes made the most of a season where all the top clubs were poor and won the title.

Kane was heartbroken again, and he would not come close to winning a trophy again until 2019 when Spurs reached the Champions League final.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side faced Liverpool, one of the most successful clubs in English football, but they were confident about winning because they had Harry Kane on their side.

Liverpool beat them, leaving Kane with two silver medals. He waited until 2021 to win a trophy again, but he also lost the Carabao Cup final that summer.

These near-misses were enough for Kane to consider his future and he finally earned a move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

Why he made the right choice by joining Bayern Munich

Considering his prolific record, even Arsenal, Tottenham’s main rivals, would have wanted to sign Kane when he was leaving Spurs.

Premier League clubs probably did not believe he could truly leave Tottenham, and Kane moved to Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians are the most successful club in German football history and they had won the league crown in at least ten consecutive seasons when he arrived.

However, in the first year, Bayer Leverkusen ended Bayern’s dominance of the German game by going an entire season unbeaten and winning the Bundesliga.

We all wondered if Kane had come to town with a curse that affected him when he played for Tottenham in England.

However, Leverkusen deserves credit for how outstanding they were last term and Bayern was in transition, having changed managers.

Kane came through at the wrong time, but he made the right move because top clubs like Bayern Munich do not stay down for too long.

They have won the Bundesliga this term, and it could be the first of many trophies that he will win at the club.

He has also continued his brilliant individual form and those goals will give his team a chance to win trophies always.

Why Bayern could be back as a dominant club in Germany

Most people were sceptical about the decision to make Vincent Kompany the manager of Bayern Munich in the summer.

That was a justified doubt because the former defender had been relegated at Burnley in the previous campaign, and it made no sense that Bayern would trust him with their job.

However, he has so far been one of the best new managers on the continent, having won the Bundesliga and led his team to the quarterfinal of the Champions League.

Bayer Leverkusen leapt over Borussia Dortmund to win the Bundesliga last season, and most people thought other clubs would now take turns winning the title, as it happened in Serie A.

However, Bayern is back as the league winners, and Harry Kane could make them dominate the competition again for the next few seasons.

He and Kompany are a good combination because Kane is a goalscorer who does not need much coaching, while Kompany is a former defender, so he would know how to groom the Bayern defence to be solid.

It would be difficult for teams to stop them again, and one reason is that Kane will not stop scoring goals if he keeps playing for them.

Which trophy would Kane want to win next?

Having ended his career-long trophy drought, Kane would now have his eyes on more gongs. The next trophy we expect him to win is the Champions League.

Having suffered heartbreak in the 2019 final, the Englishman would be keen to win the competition at Bayern.

The German champions have always done well in the Champions League, and that will not change now that Kane is on board.

As a matter of fact, we expect things to get better for them instead because of his goals.

Among the players at Bayern Munich, no one deserves to win the Bundesliga as much as Kane does, and we are all happy for him.

We now expect more trophies to follow, and he will likely end his career as one of the players with the most trophies after winning their first in their 30s.
