The favourites to win the 2025/2026 Premier League Golden Boot
The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world, and it is also home to some of the world’s best strikers.
While being competitive and strong, these world-class strikers have found a way to score against the best defences in the world.
Every season, one player stands out as the best goal scorer in the league, with Mohamed Salah scoring 29 league goals last season to help Liverpool win a special Premier League crown.
That was the Egyptian’s fourth Golden Boot since he arrived at Liverpool and he has become an active EPL legend because of his goalscoring prowess.
He was heading towards leaving the club at the end of last season when his contract was expiring.
Liverpool took time to reflect on if they should offer him and Virgil van Dijk a new deal and decided to hand them contract extensions.
Both stars are in their 30s, so Liverpool broke an unofficial rule to keep them at the club and now Salah must prove it is the right decision.
But the Reds have added Hugo Ekitike to their squad alongside Alexander Isak, the second top scorer in the Premier League last season.
Liverpool now has the strikers who will sell the most Premier League tickets this season, and one could win the Golden Boot.
Erling Haaland remains one of the most reliable strikers in the world, and he scored five times for Norway in one game against Moldova to show he remains lethal.
Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal after scoring goals every other match day at Sporting Club, and he is one of the components that completes Mikel Arteta’s dream squad.
The Swede has been scoring. Will he win the Golden Boot, or will it be Joao Pedro who could lead Chelsea to win the league crown this season?
There are so many strikers who could snatch the Golden Boot from Mohamed Salah, and we discuss them in this article.
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool
There is no better place to start our list than with Salah, who is one player who makes fans and neutrals buy Liverpool tickets.
We may not appreciate the Egyptian king enough until he no longer plays in this league, but he has been the symbol of consistency since he arrived.
He took Liverpool from a struggling giant and made them a successful team under Jurgen Klopp and Slot.
Salah’s lowest league goal in a season since he joined Liverpool is the 18 goals he scored in the 2023/2024 season, so he will get goals and can retain the Golden Boot.
Erling Haaland, Manchester City
Haaland is another world-class striker in the Premier League, and he could have challenged better for the Golden Boot last season if injuries had not plagued him.
The Norwegian remains red-hot and has continued to show that he is one of the best players in the world.
If City gets back to form this term and their new stars hit their best shape, we expect the striker to get back among the goals.
Despite their poor start to the term, Haaland has been playing his part, and he has five goals from the opening four league games of the season.
He enjoys competition. If he stays fit, even if Manchester City fails to win the title, he could still win the Golden Boot.
Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal
Gyokeres is one of several new players on the Arsenal team, and as the striker, he is expected to bring goals to the group.
He scored almost 100 goals and over 45 per season on average when he played at Sporting Club, so he has a pedigree.
The Premier League is a much tougher competition with stronger defenders, but he is playing in an Arsenal team that creates numerous chances.
For a long time, we have known they need a striker, but they resisted the temptation to sign any striker in desperation earlier in the year.
He knows a lot is expected from him, and we hope he will stay in form as he has scored three league goals in his first four games.
Joao Pedro, Chelsea
We have known for a long time that Pedro was bigger than Brighton, and he needed to move to a bigger club.
He is proving that statement to be true as he has been in fantastic form since he moved to Chelsea during the Club World Cup.
His heroics helped the Blues to win that competition and he has started the league season well with two goals after the first four games, but he also has three assists from those matches.
This is the type of performance that Mohamed Salah delivered when last season began and Chelsea fans would be dreaming of the Brazilian helping them land the league crown this season.
Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool
Liverpool’s greed means they still broke the transfer record to sign Isak when they had added Ekitike to their squad.
For the next few weeks, the Frenchman will keep starting games for them as Isak works to get fit enough and Ekitike will make the most of his chances.
He scored in his first three official Liverpool appearances and has found some fine consistency.
He is not moved by the arrival of Isak and that competition for game time could make him an even better player, even if he comes off the bench in matches.
His start to this term has made him one of the players who could win the Golden Boot this season.
Alexander Isak, Liverpool
Isak had the last laugh after going to war with Newcastle United to force through his transfer to Liverpool.
He was the second top scorer in the Premier League last season and will now combine with Salah in Liverpool’s attack.
Because he missed much of pre-season, the Swede will need time, but he has already proven in the EPL that he is a terrific striker, and there is little doubt that he would be in the running for the Golden Boot if he stays fit.
Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United
Mbeumo scored 20 goals for Brentford in the Premier League last season, and the Cameroonian is a remarkably good player.
He now plays for a Manchester United team that has been in decline for some time, and it will be interesting to see how he performs.
Ruben Amorim is doing well in his bid to revive the team, and Mbeumo is one of the players that he can trust to deliver for them.
If he hits the goals as he did at Brentford last season, then he will surely be among the challengers for the Golden Boot.
Nick Woltemade, Newcastle United
After several strikers turned down the chance to replace Alexander Isak at Newcastle United, they signed Woltemade.
The German started their very next game after signing, and he scored the only goal of the fixture.
Newcastle knows how to create chances, so he will get plenty of chances to score, and his start shows he will take them.
He arrives to fill the big shoes that Isak left at the club, but we trust the German to get the job done, which will put him in the running for the league’s Golden Boot.
